Evaluating the Healthy Minds Program Application in a Fully Remote Randomized Controlled Trial

Delivering meditation training via mobile technology (e.g., smartphones) could dramatically increase access to potentially beneficial practices. The mobile delivery format also makes it possible to conduct large-scale research studies with participants located across the country and/or world. This study compared two versions of the Healthy Minds Program smartphone app in a sample of adults recruited entirely online. Specifically, we assessed the impact of Awareness and Connection training or Awareness and Insight training with a waitlist control condition. The data reveal substantial reductions in anxiety, depression and perceived stress after 8 weeks of using the app. We are currently preparing a manuscript for publication.
